Prozac (n.): 1985, proprietary name for fluoxetine hydrochloride, developed early 1970s by Lilly Industries.
3. The first highly specific serotonin uptake inhibitor. It is used as an antidepressant and often has a more acceptable side-effects profile than traditional antidepressants.
4. It was introduced by Eli Lilly pharmaceutical company as a treatment for clinical depression in 1986.
