N: 1. – evicted (adj): Past participle from verb evict (mid-15c., “recover (property) by judicial means,” from Latin evictus, past participle of evincere “overcome and expel, conquer, subdue, vanquish; prevail over; supplant,” from assimilated form of ex “out,” or perhaps here merely intensive + vincere “conquer”; sense of “expel by legal process” first recorded in English 1530s, from a post-classical sense of the Latin word; related: Evicted; evicting.; compare evince).
– person (n): early 13c., from Old French persone “human being, anyone, person” (12c., Modern French personne) and directly from Latin persona “human being, person, personage; a part in a drama, assumed character,” originally “mask, false face,” such as those of wood or clay worn by the actors in later Roman theater.
In legal use, “corporate body or corporation having legal rights,” 15c., short for person aggregate (c. 1400), person corporate (mid-15c.). The use of -person to replace -man in compounds and avoid alleged sexist connotations is first recorded 1971 (in chairperson). In person “by bodily presence” is from 1560s. Person-to-person first recorded 1919, originally of telephone calls.
2. In English, the nouns “evicted person” and “evictee” are not used as frequently as adjective and past participle “evicted”. Examples: “person evicted”, “people evicted”, “the person being evicted”, etc.
3. Desahucio can be translated as ‘eviction’ but also ‘repossession’ or ‘home repossession’… So desahuciados could be ‘persons whose homes have been repossessed’, ‘people who have suffered repossession’.
Related to “evicted tenant”: it would come under tenancy law, for tenant’s who don’t pay their rent.
Related to “evicted homeowner”: it would be for persons whose house is repossessed by the bank because they can’t pay the mortgage.
4. In the field of Medicine and related to “terminally ill”, the adjective desahuciado can be translated as “terminal” in English.
