3. In 1954, the United Nations adopted the Convention relating to the Status of Stateless Persons with the aim to protect stateless individuals. Some years later in 1961, the United Nations adopted another convention named “Convention on the reduction of Statelessness”.In this Convention the states agree to reduce the incidence of Statelessness.
4. Statelessness can arise from legal differences between countries, people renouncing one nationality without having acquired another or even, more simply, from failure to register the birth of a child.
